Hydrostatic testing is the most common way to check a SCBA
cylinder for leaks or flaws. The test involves filling the SCBA
cylinder with a liquid, usually water, which maybe dyed to aid in
visual lead detection, and pressurization of SCBA cylinder to
specified test pressure. Using this test helps maintain safety
standards and durability of a SCBA over time.
